I'm a Brisbane based Visual Artist working primarily in clay. My influences include Folklore, Myths, Religion, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Symbolism, Biomechanics and Social Extremes.
The use of masks in my work is symbolic of our need to hide and protect ourselves from various aspects of our lives. We create the illusion that these masks are to protect us, but they can also cause us to suffocate and cower from fear. Wings, the other theme in my work, are symbolic of hope and our ability to rise up and overcome everything that stands in our way.
These figurines represent the emotions, repressions and reactions of my inner worlds, and draw inspiration of the Fallen Angels from the Biblical Testament of Solomon.
